BITC reaches out to people

Business people and investors have been encouraged to take advantage of government initiatives to grow their businesses.
Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC) customer relations manager, Ms Lebogang Mpete said this during the BITC outreach awareness campaign in Mahalapye on Monday.
She said they were doing everything in their power to empower local businesses and investors so that they could market and sell their products locally and internationally.
She explained that the objectives of the campaign were to inform Batswana about BITC, to sell various services they offer and the benefits of registering with them. She said they also seek to get feedback on how they could improve and help local investors.
Ms Mpete said they want to sell business opportunities researched and promoted by BITC to Batswana, and to engage with local manufacturers on export opportunities and export services that the centre offers. Furthermore, she noted that BITC plays a critical role in the country’s economic growth through investment promotion and attraction, export promotion and development and the management of the national brand.
She said BITC encourages domestic investment and expansion, promotes locally manufactured goods to regional and international markets, contributes towards the improvement of the investment climate, increases citizen participation in the economy and creates sustainable job opportunities.
Mr Thuso Palai said the purpose of the national brand was to galvanise Batswana around a single identity, to stimulate stronger communities, culture and heritage and instil a greater sense of pride and community engagement in their country.
“It highlights our national assets, including our people, culture, tourism attractions, business potential and reputation as a country with good governance,” he said. Ends
