Public Service Act governs court presidents
10 Feb 2016
The Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso says Court Presidents in townships are called dikgosi by the communities they serve, out of respect or as a sign of respect mainly due to the duties they perform. Ms Tshireletso told Parliament on Wednesday that their official titles are Court Presidents.
“Court Presidents are governed and regulated by the Public Service Act and other statutes in place for public officers. They are not part of or governed by the Bogosi Act,” she said.
The assistant minister said this in response to a parliamentary question from the Member of Parliament for Ghanzi North, Mr Noah Salakae, who wanted to know whether Court Presidents in townships are also referred to as Dikgosi, and under which Act of Parliament they are regulated. Ends
