Onneile lives on dream

A 30-year-old Mr Mmoloki Onneile of Equal Chance Contractors Africa has followed his passion to manufacture different styles of window frames.
Speaking in an interview with BOPA on Thursday, Mr Onneile explained that he studied welding and fabrication at Shashe Brigade in 2010, noting that after his completion he was employed by Discovering Drilling company before it relocated to Rustenburg, South Africa.
He then decided to move with the company in order to gain more experience, then later became solo and opened his own company in Klerksdorp in South Africa.
Mr Onneile said he was specializing in sliding gates, adding that his company was doing more profit before it closed down due to lack of a working permit.
He later returned to Botswana, leaving his machines behind to seek for a work permit and with the long process involved, he decided to quit and register for his own company locally so that he can apply for the Youth Development Fund (YDF).
The young man did that in May 2015 and was funded the same year in November with money amounting to P99 459 to carry on with his manufacturing of window frames business.
He has hired three specialists who love paying attention to detail and act with much passion and inventiveness that guarantees his customer’s perfect product quality with high service competence.
“With the profit gained, I am able to support my younger brother and my mother who is in Zeerust, South Africa,” he said.
He wanted the business to grow and include manufacturing of aluminium storm windows and doors as they are relatively simple to make.
Mr Onneile said storm windows and doors are easy to manufacture as the material required is referred to as extrusions.
He said it is a simple process of cutting the window framing rails to length, wrapping the glass in a rubber gasket, and attaching the rails that are screw-fastened in the corners.
One of the best aspects about this business is that the start-up costs are low and only a minimal inventory must be stocked, as all the window orders will be custom sizes, and doors can also be manufactured on an ordered basis. Ends
