LEA gives SMMEs in Maun exposure

Small and Medium enterprises that showcased their products and services at a market day organised by Local Enterprises Authority (LEA) in Maun appreciated the platform given.

LEA had organised the first ever market day on Saturday near their offices in Maun to give Small and Medium enterprises chance bring their products and services closer to the people.

In an interview with BOPA, Ms Omphile Makubate of Quilts and Crafts business said the market day helped her business to get exposure therefore increased her sales. Ms Makubate said such platforms also helped them as small enterprises to network and get ideas from one another which they in turn incorporate to improve their products and services.

Another business woman, Ms Dikhutsafalo Keesi of Laureate enterprise said the market day was crucial since it widened their business scope by giving them exposure. Mr Bogosi Ketsholang of Tucor’s Gallery said he was thankful to LEA as many customers graced the event hence his products were seen by many.

In an interview with BOPA, Maun LEA Business Advisor, Ms Constance Phokoje said the market day was purported to give the small and medium enterprises platform to showcase their products and services.
She said some of those businesses were located in hidden places hence hard for customers to be aware of their products and services.

The role of LEA, she said was to advise small and medium entrepreneurs, through mentoring, trainings, and equipping them with marketing strategies. Ms Phokoje noted that LEA has become more appealing to small entrepreneurs ever since it widened its scope to help all sectors of business.

She pointed out that the market day would be held monthly to give more businesses chance to showcase their products and services. She however said they were happy with the number of people who attended their first market day although the advertising was not intensified. Ends
