MOESD host USA delegation

Ministry of Education and Skills Development (MOESD) will host another delegation from the United States of America, University of Louisville who will be volunteering in Gaborone as part of their International Service –Learning (ISL) programme from May 1 to 9.

A press release from the ministry states that the ISL programme has existed since 1997 at the University of Louisville to encourage students to work with different countries to solve complex challenges. 

It says that there are five ISL programmes at the university, which includes Belize, Barbados, Phillipines, Trinidad and Tobago as well as Botswana.

The release further states that the students have been learning about the culture and history of Botswana. 

The university students and faculty participating represent the following faculties; Pan African studies, public health, sports administration, psychology, engineering, dentistry, criminal justice and communication.

It also says that teams will make presentations and lead activities for high school students on topics including dreams and goals, the role of Martin Luther King Jr, the African Diaspora, and sport, using Olympic ideals for team building as well as health. 

The ISL programme has offered students a unique way to blend service, education and opportunity to travel. ENDS
