Ministry to refurbish school
07 Feb 2016
The Ministry of Education and Skills Development intends to refurbish Ghanzi Senior Secondary School, including the dilapidated school kitchen.
Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development, Mr Fidelis Molao said the school has been allocated consultants to scope all their maintenance requirements.
He added that the consultants were recently confirmed by the ministerial tender committee at the Ministry of Infrastructure Science and Technology.
“Once scoping maintenance requirements are complete, the Department of Buildings and Engineering Services will put the project up for tender during the financial year 2016/2017. The exact date of commencement will be known when the tender process is complete,” he said.
Mr Molao, however, noted that currently the ministry was unable to provide budget estimates for the project since the scope was not yet determined by the consultants.
Ghanzi North MP, Mr Noah Salakae had asked whether the ministry intended refurbishing the said school kitchen, which was now in a dilapidated state, and currently operating with pots that have worn out lids.
He had also wanted to know when the maintenance was expected to commence and how much was the budget. Ends
