157 benefit under ISPAAD

Assistant Minister of Agriculture, Mr Kgotla Autlwetse says his ministry funded 1 880 young people under the Livestock Management and Infrastructure Development (LIMID) programme during the 2014/2015 financial year.

Mr Autlwetse said from the 1 880 young people, 34 beneficiaries were from Ghanzi South while 12 beneficiaries were from Ghanzi North.

“All the projects are operational,” he added. He said 157 young people were funded under the special ISPAAD programme, adding that out of the 157, there were 47 projects which were in Ghanzi District and 110 in Kgalagadi District. 

The assistant minister said currently, two young people have applied for special ISPAAD in Kweneng District, but could not qualify.

The Member of Parliament for Ghanzi North, Mr Noah Somolekae wanted the minister to state the number of young people funded under LIMID for the financial year 2014 and 2015. He also asked the minister to state the programmes of the quoted proportion that were still operational, and if not, to state the reasons.

The minister was also to state the number of young people funded under ISPAAD in Ghanzi, Kgalagadi and Kweneng districts. ENDS
