Molapo Estate in Francistown is a private property hence the Francistown City Council (FCC) does not have the mandate to maintain its internal roads.  Answering a question in Parliament on Tuesday, the Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlhogile Tshireletso, said the estate is in a freehold land and all infrastructures within the estate is designed, constructed and maintained by the holder of the freehold rights. 

She however said the issue of maintaining Molapo internal roads was discussed at Full Council Meeting of November 2015 and it was resolved that the council and Molapo property owners should meet and chat the way forward before the end of February 2016. 

Ms Tshireleto was responding to a question from Francistown South MP, Mr Wynter Mmolotsi who wanted to know if the minister was aware of the terrible state of internal roads at Molapo Estate, why they were neglected and when would they be improved. Ends
