Kgosi Boago Monnaapula of Mogapi says his village is experiencing shortage of water and electricity.
Speaking during a kgotla meeting addressed by the Member of Parliament for Mmadinare, Mr Kefentse Mzwinila at Mogapi recently, Kgosi Monnaapula said his village population has grown and needs a bigger water reservoir to satisfy the demand for water in Mogapi.
He also said that more stand pipes need to be set up in the village. Kgosi Monnaapula added that his village also needs another transformer to connect more homes to the grid.
He requested the LAC office to consider visiting remote areas and villages such as Mogapi to sell livestock feed. He explained that in most instances when they visit the LAC offices in towns such as Selebi Phikwe to purchase livestock feed, they always find it finished or booked and paid for in advance by other farmers who are financially advantagedg.
He said if the LAC does not consider visiting remote areas to sell livestock feed, small scale or subsistence farmers would lose their livestock to the drought leaving them in poverty. Kgosi Monnaapula went on to request the upgrading of the Martins Drift\Sefhophe road. He said currently the road does not have bus stops at his village which was a disadvantage to commuters.
Meanwhile, the Village Development Committee chairperson, Ms Kebadire Seree requested that the village clinic be upgraded and that the number of nurses be increased so that they could serve the community accordingly. She also said there was shortage of classrooms and teachers accommodation at Sedimo Junior Secondary School.
At Mogapinyana, a Village Development Committee member, Ms Esther Davids said they appreciate the Ipelegeng Programme as people work to sustain their lives while developments were taking place in the village. She also expressed gratitude for the Poverty Eradication Programme, noting that some people have received their packages and have started their projects.
Ms Davids went on to explain that the village needs more houses to accommodate civil servants. She also requested that the village mobile clinic be upgraded.
She commended the village cluster policing committee for reducing crime in the village, adding that shebeens around the village have been closed. However, she said they were still facing a challenge of stock theft. Meanwhile, Mr Mzwinila told residents that some developments in both villages would be implemented through the ESP programme. Ends
