Dinare stage dramatic comeback

31 Jan 2016

Dinare ladies staged an exceptional come back on Saturday and eclipsed defending champions, Wells 13-8 at the ongoing BOFINet Softball League.

Wells were first to bat delivering a good start with three runs by Othusitse Molatheng, Khumo Gabobolokwe and Kesegofetse Diile.

Dinare only managed two runs in their opener, thanks to Bafedile Dube’s homerun, which ignited the National Diamond and helped sail home another point from Gale Mfolwe.

Both second innings were a dry spell, but the third inning saw Wells’ Molatheng deliver a point through an error throw that was aimed to tag her out but propelled to the fence.

Gabobolokwe then followed suit and drove a point home from Isang Isaiah’s hot hit that landed on the pitcher’s foot.

Dinare came into the third inning looking set to dethrone the Jwaneng girls and went for the kill as Monnosi Sanane smacked a powerful hit that navigated Mfolwe home.

Dube, who throughout the game was handed a free walk to first base to avoid the trauma of another homerun, also scored followed by Sanane who leveled the score to five all.

Dinare seemed to have alarmed the opponents as the latter brought in another pitcher on the mount who fed Keamo Mooketsi a good strike that soared to the outfield leaving fielders stunned as no one gloved it to their dismay Gotsile Monyama sprinting home.

Wells retaliated in the fourth inning as Gaamangwe Moagi delivered a run from Molatheng’s rising hit that landed behind short stop.

Morongwa Sephekolo also scored through Gabobolokwe’s ground hit that went past the short stop’s legs as they once again took a one margin lead.

The fourth inning saw Dinare deliver two runs by Mfolwe and Dube.

Wells only managed to score a solitary point to make it eight in the fifth inning by Isaiah which put them under pressure being the first batters because Dinare could come back and swipe them off in the closing inning.

Just as expected, Dinare gave it all in the closing inning, the first two points coming from Mooketsi and Bonolo Molefe.

Thusani Jikijela followed suit and scored through a pass ball while another heartbreaker came through Monyama’s smack that went to the outfield as it sailed home Mfolwe and Dube to wrap up the game at 13-8.

Meanwhile the northern zone wrapped up their league games this weekend as they wait for the championship.  Ends
