AIESEC empowers new businesses

Newly formed businesses will now have the opportunity to be imparted with business skills from around the world, thanks to AIESEC Botswana.
AIESEC Botswana has come up with a programme dubbed the Global Entrepreneurship Programme which targets startups or new businesses.
The main objective of the programme is to bring cost effective solutions to help accelerate the growth of small businesses and newly formed companies in the country.
In an interview, AIESEC Botswana president, Ms Gorata Motlhagodi said they saw it befitting the relevance of Botswana looking at the fact that the government wanted to diversify the economy and many young people were venturing into entrepreneurship.
She said they realised that there were gaps in startup businesses that needed to be filled in order to run and sustain them, citing shortage of skills.
The skills include among others project management, marketing, sales, graphic design and human resource management.
“What AIESEC does is that it brings those skills from outside to the newly formed businesses in Botswana.
This programme can be an investment as it is a cost effective solution to meet short and medium term staffing needs with internationally sourced skills,” said Motlhagodi.
For her part, the director at AIESEC Botswana, Ms Kamogelo Malensi said the Global Entrepreneurship Programme could benefit Batswana, hence she encouraged them to take the opportunity as the world was now a global village
She added that since the world has become a global village, people need to adapt and so should companies.
Meanwhile, currently the programme has one customer, which is There4U, an adult day care centre in Metsimotlhabe.
The adult day care centre is looking for an administrator while the person would be providing free service on a professional level for three months. Ends
