Gilport Lions frustrate Centre Chiefs
26 Jan 2016
Title holders, Mochudi Centre Chiefs has failed to improve their chances to challenge for honours when they played to a one all draw against Gilport Lions in a beMOBILE league game played in Molepolole.
Chiefs went into the game knowing that the pace setters and log leaders were beaten the previous day and were motivated to collect maximum points and defend their position in the league, but Gilport Lions had other ideas of moving out of the relegation zone, they are now at position 12 whilst Chiefs are still occupying the third spot.
Though Chiefs frequented their opponent’s goal area, they missed chances because of hasty and indecisive goal poachers and were subsequently punished in the 36 minute through Kenanao ‘Floor’ Kgetholetsile’s goal who caught them on the counter after overly enjoying possession.
Chiefs later in the second half were rewarded through a goal by Lemponye Tshireletso after Lions defence failed to clear their lines and Ayanda Molefhe found the unmarked Tshireletso with a cross field pass to salvage a point late in the game to garner 37 points.
Late in the game, Lions were on the back pedal most of the time from attacks on the wings. Chiefs failed to utilise chances on errors created by the defence on retreat.
Chiefs, who always have a hard time to beat Gilport, formerly BMC, follows on the loss of Township Rollers to their hoodoo team BR Highlanders.
The unhappy Rollers fans confronted management after the game.
They blame management boardroom politics to be behind the bad showing of their team. Ends
