Rollers slip from top spot
25 Jan 2016
Township Rollers slipped to second spot of the beMobile Premiership log after they lost 1-2 to BR Highlanders in Molepolole on Saturday.
Rollers started well against struggling opponents, but soon lost steam as Highlanders packed the middlefield to frustrate ball distribution to attackers, thus forcing Rollers to knock the ball around to try to access their front.
Rollers seemed to have reduced the high tempo game they are known for.
Their many touches proved to be wasteful and were punished after Tilly Setlhako scored an opener in the 23 minute.
Slow paced Rollers made it easy for BR Highlanders to adapt and easily absorb pressure and launch counter attacks, which frustrated Rollers who were under pressure to collect maximum points to stay atop.
Rollers persistence was, however, rewarded in the 38th minute through Joel Mogorosi.
The equaliser resuscitated Rollers’ hope to retain the unbeaten record.
But in the 81st minute, Moamogedi Thatogo, broke hearts of Rollers supporters when he nailed a winner
After the game, Rollers supporters displayed their frustration over the loss allegedly blaming the loss on management’s internal feuds.
The team is still to register a win after Christmas break and off season training in South Africa. Ends
