Sua Flamingoes GNT share spoils

25 Jan 2016

A rain drizzle at the Old Francistown Stadium on Sunday afternoon seemed to take the steam off Great North Tigers (GNT) and Sua Flamingoes encounter, which ended in a nil-all draw.

The Debswana First Division North second round game however showed some individual brilliance in the mould of attacking left midfielder for GNT, Kabelo Setshwaelo.

Donning the world famous number 10 jersey, the gifted left footed midfielder proved to be the livewire for the hosts throughout the game.

He easily had his way with Flamingoes’ defence sending in quality passes for the likes of veteran Tamocha Bedi and Aobakwe Mopaki to convert, albeit with no success.

Visiting Flamingoes too had their own brilliant individual players such as Batisani Josiah and left footed midfielder Luckmore Makura had GNT defence manned by the likes of Chakadza Pharo chasing shadows.

The two players’ combination and well-orchestrated passes, however, could not produce any goals in the game.

Flamingoes’ draw did not augur well for their championship challenge as they started the league on a high note, collecting points after points and were early runaway leaders.

A win against GNT would have seen them ascend the summit of the log toppling Mahalapye Hotspurs. Flamingoes are second with 24 points from 12 games while Hotspurs has 26 points.

GNT on one hand would be happy with the draw, which has helped them keep their top four position sound and secure.

They are perched on position four with 19 points from 12 games and have another Francistown side Tafic breathing heavily behind them with 18 points. Ends
