Mr Prince Malomo has credited his high school teachers for nurturing the young upholsterer in him.
Then a wet behind the ears, he would take the initiative to cover broken chairs at his school and household.
Today at 22-year-old, the young man already has four years of experience as an upholsterer under his belt and planned to open his upholstery company.
“I learned that I love covering chairs when I was at school doing design and technology,” he said in an interview.
When he completed Form 5 in 2011, his turned to his love. He had already approached the Department of Youth to apply for a loan.
His mentor is his employer, Mr Fungai Chindudzi, the owner of an upholstery business in Block 1. He taught him a number of skills from stitching to fitting car seats.
“He is committed to his job. He is always willing to learn. He loves his job and I appreciate what he is doing for the company. He has fitted well in the company and works tirelessly.
He represents our company and himself very professionally in everything he does and offers very good customer service,” said Mr Chindudzi.
Born in Tutume, Mr Malomo grew up in Monarch location, Francistown.
Mr George Makwena described him as an obedient, hardworking and down to earth person.
“You will never want a better friend than Prince. In fact, if you spend any amount of time with him during working hours, whether helping someone out, hardly a person walks by without him greeting them by name.
Watching him work, witnessing his easy interactions with all sorts of customers, you will be hard pressed to guess that he is still young,” said Mr Makwena.
He said his philosophy was to try to always treat people the way he would like to be treated. Ends
