Gear up for national celebrations

Member of Parliament for Francistown South, Mr Wynter Mmolotsi, has urged residents of Tshwaragano ward in his constituency to prepare for the upcoming national events.
Addressing a kgotla meeting , Mr Mmolotsi said such events included Botswana’s 50th anniversary of independence and arrival of roving torch in Francistown.
He said the torch would be be in Francistown in March. He stated that the roving torch symbolised stability, peace and harmony in the country.
Mr Mmolotsi also said there was need to celebrate Botswana’s achievements since attainment of independence in 1966. In addition, he said the year 2016 called for self-introspection as a nation.
However, the MP expressed need to reflect on achievements in the implementation of the Vision 2016 pillars.
Therefore, he said, stakeholders should take stock of their achievements, challenges and come up with interventions.
‘’This nation aspires to have Botswana placed high in the world map as our pride and everybody’s destination,” he noted.
Meanwhile, Ward Development Committee member, Ms Marea Gaolefufa, requested for erection of pedestrian crossing at Mokaleng Primary School to protect pupils from road accidents.
Ms Gaolefufa also requested for the power supply to ABM and Botho Colleges as well as streets lights.
She called for upgrading of Nyangbabwe Referral Hospital (NRH) saying the hospital was congested.
In his response, MP Mmolotsi said Botswana’s economy was improving, therefore some projects such as NRH upgrading would be included in NDP 11.
He added that Economic Stimulus Programme known as ESP would strive to eradicate backlog of projects that were affected by the economic recession.
MP Mmolotsi said under the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, there was backlog in teacher’s quarters, classrooms and that more money would be set aside for maintenance of buildings.
He also said more laboratories and classrooms will be built to relieve congestion.
Under Ministry of Health’s backlog eradication, he said a number of clinics and health posts will be upgraded and that a number of dilapidated hospitals will be refurbished. Ends
