Magosi Popa to take rivalry up north

20 Jan 2016

The seemingly insatiable appetite for football among Francistowners will be well fed during the first leg of the Mascom Top 8 semi-final when Mochudi Centre Chiefs and Township Rollers go head to head at the Francistown Sports Complex.

Mascom public relations manager, Barbara Gotlop, has confirmed the venue of the February 19 encounter.

Botswana Premier League board reportedly proposed that the game be moved because of the unavailability of the National Stadium.

Chiefs spokesperson, Clifford Mogomotsi, said they had been notified about the movement of their game to the second city.

He noted that the new Francistown complex had turned out to be the home of football as attendance was always good.

Mogomotsi thanked the people of Francistown for supporting football, adding that they would use the game to recruit more supporters in the northern region.

He further applauded Mascom for taking a game of such magnitude to Francistown. He appealed to Francistowners to attend the game in good numbers.

His counterpart at Rollers, Bafana ‘Phempheretlhe’ Pheto said they did not have any problem with their fixture in Francistown as the sponsor would pay for their transport, food and accommodation.

Pheto further lauded the move saying that they had a large following in the second city. He called on Francistown residents and others in the north to go and watch the best of Botswana football. Ends
