Government to upgrade Tshesebe Masunga road

17 Jan 2016

Tati West MP, Mr Biggie Butale has informed residents of Pole, Masukwane and Kgari that the road linking Tshesebe and Masunga that passes through Mosojane is one of the 42 roads that will be done through the Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP).

Addressing kgotla meetings in the three villages last week, MP Butale said although he was not certain when exactly construction would begin, residents should expect the road works to have begun not later than 2018.

He explained that because of the many access roads and bridges that would form part of the road’s construction, the total works were expected to cost government an estimated P200 million.

He pleaded with his constituents not to lose heart, but to understand that like any government project, the construction of the said road would entail adherence to set standards and processes; hence they should  be patient if the project takes a while to take off.

As for the road linking the three villages of Kalakamati, Mbalambi and Zwenshambe, the MP called for calm as well as patience from residents of the concerned villages, saying its non-inclusion in projects to be implemented through ESP was not a sign that the government did not attach any value to it.

He implored them to understand that ESP was not meant to replace any existing government programmes; but that it was simply put in place to speed up certain key projects.

He thus pointed out that the non-inclusion of the road in ESP did not mean it would not be done through other developmental plans and initiatives.

MP Butale called on residents to allow the current plans to gravel the road to go ahead, and to patiently wait for the government to be able to find the resources required for it to be tarred.

Welcoming the MP to his village,  Kgosi Clinic Ketlogetswe of Pole called on the government to consider tarring the Tshesebe/Masunga road.

Kgosi Ketlogetswe informed the MP that the tarring would be a welcome development that would undoubtedly turn the lives of its users around.

In Masukwane, Kgosi Dick Chikuba expressed gratitude for the roads included in ESP projects.

He, however, called on his people not to be overly enthusiastic as promises had been made in the past that the road would be tarred only for years to pass with nothing happening.

In Kgari, VDC chairperson, Mr Simon Borotho urged the government to extend the road linking Kari to the A1 road at Ramokgwebana to Masunga for the benefit of residents of Masukwane, Pole and Mosojane as these villages have no tarred roads linking them to other villages. Ends
