10 Jan 2016

Shoe seller, Mr Paphidzo Mothobi credits his wife, Ms Chililo Mothobi, for the success of his business which opened in 1997.

Speaking during an interview with BOPA recently, the 54 year old who hails from Madikwe ward in Tutume relates that he started out selling clothes in 1993 before he was sold to the industry and sustainability of selling foot wear.

He narrates that he had to quit his job as an instructor at a security company based in South Africa to venture into business alongside his wife in Botswana.

Today Bakakanjoro Investments, as it is affectionately known, is doing well.

It is the only shoe retailer at the Tutume mall where most outlets sell vegetables.

His clients come from Tutume and neighbouring villages. He orders his stock from South Africa.

He says that he takes pride in selling genuine leather at reasonable prices, a characteristic that he says is attracting a large customer base to his business.

Mr Mothobi says that his business affords him financial freedom. He also advises those who want to go into the business to exercise caution and patience as it is a very competitive industry. Ends
