Cool time popular thirst burster
07 Jan 2016
It is like a new kid on the block this season, but it has been there for a long time. Traders refer to it as ‘heat remedy’ just to advertise it and generate more sales.
Cool Time, a fruit juice product sold at an affordable price is in high demand due to its taste and higher temperatures that are experienced this season.
One of the ‘cool time’ sellers, Mr Emmanuel Galebolae described it as a very profitable product which he began selling in 2013.
He said normally sales for cool time rise during hot days as customers prefer it to quench their thirst given its juicy taste.
Mr Galebolae said his price is P4 which most of the customers believe it’s a reasonable and affordable price. He said during month end he can buy up to three bags in a day. A bag contains 100 packets of cool time.
His customers are travellers who come to the bus rank on a daily basis; he also targets those who are in buses as well as other traders of non-food items like belts and watches still in the bus rank.
Mr Galebolae highlighted that profit of cool time helped him to earn a living rather than to stay without anything to do.
Apart from cool time, he also sells water and airtime.
Ms Keatametse Rapelang, a vendor at the bus rank, is also involved in the selling of this product. She said she started two weeks back after realising how popular it was.
Though she explained that it is quite slow she is still interested in selling it because she believes it can make profit as time goes on.
The supplier of cool time to hawkers and vendors, Mr Buthle Motuphi also gave testimony to the profits of cool time.
He said he can sell about 300 bags of cool time in a day depending on the weather.
He said he experiences high sales during hot days.
However, Mr Motuphi noted that he also sells during the winter season even though the sales falls a bit. He revealed that he gets his orders from South Africa to most hawkers and vendors in Gaborone as well as in Francistown.
Cool time is really in demand and enjoyed by children, the youth and adults regardless of their status. Ends
