SPAR Palapye donates to orphans
06 Jan 2016
Spar Palapye has recently put a smile on Mogome and Mokgware children's faces by donating to them.
Spar donated food hampers to the tune of P6 000 to 20 orphans of the two villages as well as to 40 destitute persons.
Speaking at the handover ceremony of the gifts, the assistant manager of Spar Palapye, Mr Emanuel Musa said they realised the need of some people of the two villages through the help of social workers and sought to do something for them towards the end of the year.
Mr Musa said that it is Spar’s custom to exercise social responsibility and extend a helping hand to the needy and less privileged members of the community.
He said they always work with social workers to identify the needs of some people in different villages in order to extend a helping hand.
Mr Musa said SPAR does not only buy food for destitute persons and orphans, but also helps them with clothes and shelter.
He said the social responsibility activities are meant to appreciate the community's support of Spar as well as contribute towards the achievement of vision 2016, particularly the pillar of a just and caring nation.
Beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for the generosity of Spar and urged them to do the same for other less privileged members of the community.
Mogome/Mokgware social worker, Ms Tshegofatso Kebolese also thanked Spar for giving to the needy in her villages.
She also urged beneficiaries to make use of the poverty eradication programme to improve their livelihoods. Ends
