Ga-Maila annual festival success

04 Jan 2016

Ga-Maila Festive Meltdown event promoter and organiser, Kenanao Baruti has implored southerners to make use of the just ended annual event to reap from night crawllers and the festive mood to improve their livelihoods.

Baruti told BOPA in an interview during the second Annual Ga-Maila Festive Meltdown at Motse Lodge in Kanye on Thursday that the event presents an  opportunity for entrepreneurs to grow their businesses.

She said people come from all corners of the country and seek accommodation in hotels, lodges and guest houses that inject money into the local economy to improve the economic landscape of Kanye.

She said the event has a lot of potential to change the economic landscape of Kanye for the better, which will in turn improve the standard and quality of life of residents and villages in Kanye and the surrounding areas.

Baruti said the event creates a platform for Kanye to market itself and lure tourists into the area. She said the event also provides an opportunity for cross-pollination of ideas such as in business and sport that may take Kanye to greater heights through socialisation and interaction.

The show that has grown in leaps and bounds since its inception in 2014, she said, seeks to unite southerners and entertain them locally without having to travel long distances in search of entertainment.

Baruti said the event also gives the sponsors such as Mascom, Kgalagadi Breweries Limited and Warm Hands Hotel a platform to give back to the community.
She said the event also lures people away from committing crime and other undesirable acts as the it keeps them busy from unwarranted movements. ENDS
