Oreeditse Kebopelwang, the latest victim of the Matsha College truck accident, was laid to rest in Takatokwane on Saturday (December 19).
Oreeditse, a staunch member of the Apostolic Faith Mission church, died on December 12 at a hospital in South Arica.
The Minister of Education and Skills Development, Dr Unity Dow, said when passing a message of condolences from President Lt Gen. Seretse Khama Ian Khama that the nation was still expecting a lot from Oreeditse, especially that she had distinguished herself as an obedient and orderly child.
Dr Dow said the nation was hopeful of Oreeditse’s recovery, especially that she was not that critical in the first days of hospitalisation after the accident.
A ward representative, Mr Ompitlhetse Motlhware, said Oreeditse always displayed potential for greater things as she always put effort in her school work.
He said in this light, they were expecting a lot from her and had no doubt that she would do well in her form five examinations that she had just completed at the time of her demise.
Her friend, Nancy Keemetswe, described Oreeditse as a good listener and peer advisor to her many friends.
“She was someone who enjoyed singing and preaching the gospel through song and dance and her wish was to be a gospel singer when she completed school,” she said.
A family representative, Mr Caiphius Motlhware, appreciated the support that government has been offering since Oreeditse’s hospitalisation, saying without such the family would have experienced a financial strain.
Oreeditse’s passing brings to eight the total number of deaths from the accident. She leaves behind her parents and four siblings. Ends
