Gugazwemumavu tourney returns

Gugazwemumavu football tournament will take place in Gambule in the North East District on December 25-28. 

According to a press release, the tournament has been sponsored by VINKUCH Investments to the tune of P20 000 and there will also be two trophies and medals that will be awarded to the winning teams.  

Chairperson of the tournament committee, Otsile Stephen said any player from any village or town will be allowed to participate in the tournament. 

It says eight team would participates; Gambule Power Rangers F.C, Masunga Swallows, Vukwi F.C, Mulambakwena Great Stars, Zwenshambe Fast Eleven, Mapitse United, Ghorokoro F.C and Gambule Young Stars. 

Gambule Young Stars, says the release, will be making their debut on the tournament while Masunga Swallows are the defending champions.  

It further states that the eight teams will be drawn into two groups of four. For the draw, Masunga Swallows is seeded in position one group A and the previous tournament’s runner up Gambule Power Rangers F.C is seeded in position one group B. The remaining six teams are drawn from one pot to fill the other positions in the two groups. 

The release says the two top teams of each group will advance to the semi-finals, which would be played on December 27, while the loser’s final and final will be played on December 28. 

Meanwhile, Gambule Power Rangers Football Club announced a kit sponsorship by Bakasa Legacy and was unveiled on Friday. 

The release states that members of Gambule Power Rangers F.C team paraded the new kit that will be first worn on the pitch during their first match of the tournament on December 25. 

The team had been running for nearly 11 years and during that time, they have had a number of different young players playing for the team. 

It says the team has very strong links to its local community and to Gambule Primary School, as they have donated one of thier kits to the school and were instrumental in ensuring that ablution are built at Gambule football grounds. Ends
