Public officers in Ngamiland have been urged to get ready for the implementation of the Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP) from April next year.
The Permanent Secretary to the President (PSP), Mr Carter Morupisi, said this when briefing officers about the programme this week. He said the intention was to fast track implementation as well as ensure the programme would be private sector driven.
Mr Morupisi stated that the programme was geared towards stimulating the economy and diversifying it, thus accelerating job creation.
Public servants were also urged to work as a team for the success of the programme. The Permanent Secretary to the President noted that officers should understand that they were preparing a better future for the new generation hence they should work collectively to produce expected results.
He urged the coordinators and district tender committees to up their game and ensure by beginning of April next year all tenders are awarded and projects ready to kick start.
Mr Morupusi also explained that the normal procedure of tendering would not be compromised.
“We are expected to follow the right procedure in the tender processes but without causing any delay in awarding the tenders. Our aim is to see lot of activities taking place across the country,” he added.
The district commissioner, Ms Chabongwa Matseka, said Ngamiland was ready to implement the programme noting that all stakeholders had been taken on board.
She said after the announcement of the programme, they conducted several meetings with stakeholders and all agreed to join hands in implementing the programme.
She also explained that in the district, they have 12 backlog eradication projects which had already started. Ends
