Official calls for efficiency

Morupule Coal Mine employees relations manager, Mr Letsibogo Ndwapi, has implored Palapye Administration Authority (PAA) staff, to develop a high performance culture.
Addressing staff during PAA chairman’s ball, Mr Ndwapi said company culture was at the heart of competitive advantage because it determined how things were done and how people should behave.
He said high performers created an environment with a unique personality and soul so that people make the right decisions.
He said culture inspired people to go an extra mile to make and execute good decisions even when nobody’s looking.
Furthermore, Mr Ndwapi said cultural change would not happen unless leaders modelled the behaviour and values that defined the new culture adding that the most effective leaders also spread the word through constant personal contact and communication.
“They don’t shrink from making the organisation changes necessary to support the new culture for instance altering incentives, redistributing decision rights or streamlining processes,” he said.
He said leaders rigorously tracked their progress as the culture evolved to make sure performance stayed high.
“Without a winning culture your strategy’s takes you nowhere.”
He implored everyone to step up to higher performance standards and work together to ensure continuous improvement in all areas.
For his part, PAA chairperson Mr Lesedi Phuthego thanked all stakeholders who made PAA a mobile wagon of delivery of services.
He said it was PAA’s combined efforts with stakeholders to bring services to the people at no cost adding that “if we are to get something from our people it is merely a cost recovery measure which in most cases does not merge half of the services provided.
He said Palapye was faced with challenges such as sewerage network, provision of potable water, maintenance of council facilities and employees and councillors’ welfare among others. Ends
