Ministry investigates officer

14 Dec 2015

The Ministry of Education and Skills Development is investigating a matter regarding a chief education officer in Letlhakeng who reportedly commutes daily from Molepolole.

Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development, Mr Moisiraela Goya, said this while answering a question in parliament.

Mr Goya said the ministry could not discuss the matter in detail pending investigations.

“I am aware of a chief education officer who was transferred from headquarters to the Kweneng Sub-region of Letlhakeng with effect from November 1.  The issues of the officer being transported by a government vehicle from Molepolole to Letlhakeng on a daily basis and any other issues pertaining to this case are currently under investigation and I would be compromising the investigation if I discuss this before the case is closed,” he added.

Mr Goya was answering a question from the Member of Parliament for Takatokwane, Mr Ngaka Ngaka, who had asked the minister if he was aware of the chief education officer who placed himself in Molepolole instead of Letlhakeng where he was transferred to.

Mr Ngaka also sought to know if the minister knew that the officer was being transported by a government vehicle from Molepolole to Letlhakeng on a daily basis and if so what he is doing to address the situation.  Ends
