Ministry not aware of unescorted patients
10 Dec 2015
Assistant Minister of Health, Dr Alfred Madigele, says the ministry is not aware of any patients from health posts who were referred to Scottish Livingstone, but were not escorted by a nurse. Answering a question in Parliament, Dr Madigele however, said health posts provided transport to clients going for check-ups because there was no public transport and such clients were not escorted by a nurse.
“My ministry is also not aware of any lives that have been lost during transportation of patients,” he said. Takatokwane MP, Mr Ngaka Ngaka had asked the minister if he was aware that in the Takatokwane constituency, patients on referral to Scottish Livingstone hospital were transported from health posts to Molepolole without a nurse or auxiliary staff and how many lives had been lost in Sesung and Ditshegwane village, if any.
Mr Ngaka also wanted to know what action the ministry had taken to address the situation. Ends
