Company commitment impresses Malesu

09 Dec 2015

The Minister of Health, Ms Dorcas Makgato, has applauded Parts Sales Botswana and Forklift Sales Botswana for their commitment to the local economy.

Speaking at the opening of the company’s new warehouse in Phakalane, the former Minister of Trade and Industry said the expansion by these companies illustrate confidence in the Botswana economy.

The two entities trade under parents company, Turbo (Pty) Limited which was first registered in 1987 and has been operating in Botswana for close to 30 years. Meanwhile Ms Makgato has said the Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP) has been introduced to add value to the economy which has not yet registered good growth since coming out of recession three to four years ago. She said this has compelled them to come up with creative ideas to deal with backlog in a number of sectors.

The construction sector is expected to be the major beneficiary with 96 facilities earmarked for upgrading. These include clinics, classrooms and roads. Ms Makgato said this however does not mean the government would be reckless in its spending adding ESP is expected to take three years.

She said the ESP would be funded either through domestic or foreign borrowing or dip into reserves. The minister said government would continue with its normal budgeting processes. Ends
