 Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture says construction or upgrading of Selebi-Phikwe stadium has not commenced. Answering a question in Parliament Tuesday, Minister Thapelo Olopeng said it may, therefore not be proper to expect government to update Parliament on the state of the Selebi-Phikwe Stadium and its completion date when the project had not started.

Also, he said there were no funds which were set aside for such development project.

He added that construction or upgrading of Selebi-Phikwe stadium would be considered alongside other facilities when the financial situation improved. Meanwhile, minister Olopeng said the ministry however desired to provide sport facilities in various centres around the country.

Selebi Phikwe West MP, Mr Dithapelo Keorapetse had wanted the minister to update Parliament on the state of Selebi-Phikwe stadium, particularly when it will be completed and what upgrades would be in place at its completion. Ends
