Sekgele Madiba secondary schools show business prowess

Students from Sekgele and Madiba secondary schools won over P15 000 and P10 000 respectively after representing Botswana at the Junior Achievement Africa Company of the year competition in Gabon.
Speaking at the Junior Achievement Botswana (JAB) press briefing, the JAB executive director, Ms Tshidi Tlhong, said the money would be used by students to expand their business.
She said the competition was attended by 14 countries. Sekgele and Madiba scooped position two and three respectively.
Ms Tlhong also appreciated the Ministry of Education and Skills Development for making the trip possible and assisting students with branding and clothing they used in Gabon.
In his remarks, the deputy permanent secretary in the ministry, Mr Simon Coles, thanked the two teams that represented the country; adding that it was important for students to be taught about business.
He said JAB provided proper skills that would benefit students with business skills in future.
He commended the support offered by teachers who were involved in JAB, adding that they played a vital role in assisting the students.
The two teams that took part in the competition were a company from Sekgele by the name Haus of Décor who specialised in furniture and Excel Phenomenal Company from Madiba which produced edutainment devices. Ends
