Entrepreneurship becomes reality for trio

08 Dec 2015

The trio of Mr Phemelo Mohubu, Mr Morekolodi Mokgosi and Mr Orapeleng Diphofu of Kanye have ventured into shoe fixing.

The entrepreneurs say they used their savings amounting to P1 000 to kick-start the business.

Speaking in an interview at their workshop, the trio said their business was operating smoothly as the proceeds met their daily needs.

Mr Mokgosi said he used some of the profit generated to pay for his children’s school fees. Their business is strategically located at Kanye mall to be easily accessed by customers.

Mr Mokgosi said they use two types of trading being cash on delivery and deposit.

He highlighted that they repaired all kinds of shoes from sleepers, sandals, school shoes to stilettos. Their business operates from Monday to Friday, from 8:30am to 5:30pm and on Saturday from 8:30am to 3pm.

However, like any other business, Mr Mohubu noted that their business also encountered challenges.

They said some customers had a tendency to disappear without settling their debts.

Mr Mokgosi added that council was always giving them was giving them sleepless nights. “They visit us time and again, telling us to move and find a suitable place. They said that our workplace has to be a permanent structure,” he complained.

He said they had nowhere to go as rent was expensive.

Lack of machinery and lack of funds were also big problems. Ends
