Team North West makes history
08 Dec 2015
For the first time in the history of Badminton at the Botswana Games, North West Region has progressed to the finals after beating the Southern region 3-2.
Speaking in a side interview at the ongoing Badminton games at the Tonota College of Education (TCE), the elated coach for team North West, Karabo Mosweu commended the team for working tirelessly and cooperating well with each other.
He highlighted that not only is Botswana Integrated Sports Association (BISA) pivotal to their success but also the training and investment of resources they underwent.
Mosweu added that unlike other teams who did not stay for two full weeks of training, they did so to maximise their efforts and opportunity.
He noted that the tactic they used to win was playing the power plan as they noticed that the Southern region team’s weakness is that they cannot lock a smash.
Mosweu added that after playing a game, they analyse it and strategize on how to improve in their next game.
Because team work is the basic element of a strong team, he said that assisting him to make North West succeed is Coach Pedzani Montshiwa and the team manager Ms Ananious Tlou.
For his part, the convener of Badminton, Salani Madziba said in the previous years, North West only went as far as team events.
This is impressive, he noted, highlighting that their success is testimony that the training coaches went under the Botswana Badminton Association bore fruitful results.
He encouraged other regions not to be disheartened but rather be encouraged to work extra hard. Ends
