Teams fail to find back of net

Ladies football teams from Francistown and Kweneng districts played to a 0-0 draw at the Francistown old stadium during the on-going Botswana Games.
The game started with both teams piling pressure on each other with Francistown dominating the game. Even though the pace of the game was negatively affected by the high temperatures, both teams managed to distribute the ball around until they went to a break having not find the back of the net.
In the second half, Francistown girls upped their game and were unlucky not to find the back of the net in the 71st minute when they missed a clear cut chance. Kweneng girls on the other hand did not give up as they also fought hard and failed to utilise their chances.
In an interview with the Kweneng coach, Thapelo Malwetse said since they did not want Francistown to score them, they deployed a defensive approach.
“Yesterday they won 9-0 and this made my girls to believe that the Francistown girls are better than them,’’ said the coach.
Further, he said the Francistown team has a better pool of players who enjoyed home advantage as the crowd was cheering them. However, coach Malwetse said despite the draw he was happy with the way his girls played.
Francistown girls’ football club coach, Desmond Jenamo said he was happy with the results even though they missed a lot of chances which they could have converted to goals.
He noted that they arrived late and this affected their preparation including their warm up and team talk which were not enough. Jenamo said his girls put a stunning performance on the day.
In other games they played yesterday, Francistown crashed Selebi Phikwe by 9-0 while Kweneng walloped South East girls two goals to nil. Ends
