Heat wave interrupts games

08 Dec 2015

The heat wave that is being experienced in Francistown has led to interruptions in some sporting games amongst them netball and volleyball.

Most of Day Two games for volleyball had to be moved to late afternoon due to the searing heat.

In an interview, the volleyball convener of the games, Ndibo Lebala explained that since the first day on Sunday most of the games, which had to be played after 11am had to be moved to the afternoon at 4pm hours but they still found it hot to the extent that they had to start at 5pm.

He further noted that because they are using two courts and in each they play two teams they are expecting their games to go as far as 830pm hence it does not affect the feeding for the athletes.

In addition, he pointed out that they are going to propose to have feeding, particularly breakfast, to be served earlier at least 6am instead of the current arrangement of 730am so that they can move the starting time to 8am  from 9am.He said they believe this will help them avoid the heat which usually intensifies from 11am  in the morning, the times they are supposed to be playing their third and fourth games. Ends
