Francistown leads
07 Dec 2015
Botswana Games host district, Francistown, outshone others in the 10 swimming races on Sunday (December 6) and Monday (December 7).
Results released yesterday showed that Francistown was leading with seven gold, nine silver and five bronze medals followed by Gaborone district with four gold, one silver and three bronze medals.
Kweneng had amassed one silver and one bronze medal and trailing behind was Sowa and Selebi Phikwe with one bronze medal each.
In an interview, the swimming convener, Valerie Ives said when the tournament started on Sunday, there were only few hiccups such as logistics and some of the swimmers became ill.
She said this time around, the teams were smaller as they were made up of four members each, a thing that she said strained the swimmers as they had to participate in a lot of races.
Ives, however, said since the swimming pool was a short course, it became easier for the swimmers as they got frequent pushes.
In general, she said, the organisation of the tournament was brilliant.
The swimmers competed in freestyle, butterfly, breast stroke and in their individual medley. Ends
