Hotspurs ascend log

07 Dec 2015

Debswana First Division North title chasers, Mahalapye Hotspurs stung hosts, Tonota FC, by a solitary goal in the league’s encounter played in Tonota on Saturday December 5.

The victory meant Hotspurs ascended the northern league log after their rivals; Sua Flamingoes, drew two-all with Real Movers.

Hotspurs’ goal was probably the quickest in the league as it was scored in the 26th second by Watuzwa Muniazo, after he caught Tonota FC off-guard and beat the goalkeeper, Olebile Elias from the kick off whistle.

Hotspurs, who came into the game seating in position two behind Sua Flamingoes, then had every reason to pile more pressure looking for more goals to annihilate Tonota.

A marvel to watch throughout the game was Hotspurs’ striker, Thapelo Senoya, who was unlucky not to put his name on the score sheet.

On one side, Tonota FC could not penetrate the resolute Hotspurs defence, with the likes of Mmoloki Seseko, Goitsemang Kama and Keabetswe Sebika failing to string together any passes that could result in a goal.

In the second half, both sides pushed hard for a goal but could not produce any hair-raising moves that could result in any goal.

The game lacked the creativity in the middle of the park by both teams’ midfielders and relied heavily on their wingers to bring in balls into the box. ENDS
