Chebani urges peers to encourage one another

07 Dec 2015

A representative of the Anglican Church’s Men’s Fellowship, Mr Tony Chebani has urged children to encourage their peers to come to church so as to avoid engaging in negative social activities.

Mr Chebani said for a child to lead a righteous life it was important for them to be nurtured in a church. He encouraged the children to attend Sunday school and ensure that their behaviour was relevant to God's word.

On behalf of Thamaga  Station Commander, Inspector Moshe Karabo cemented Mr Chebani's words, saying society was currently going through an era in which children engage in illicit acts at a young age and that they need guidance.

Inspector Karabo commended the Anglican Church for hosting the children's conference,  saying Thamaga has experienced a tough time where children committed crime ranging from   house break-ins to assaults.

He said he was happy about the Anglican Church's gesture to gather children and guide them, adding that this would help curb societal ills. Inspector Karabo also urged parents not to neglect their children and to always monitor them.

The wife to the Bishop of the Anglican Diocese, Ms Thapelo Beleme urged church committees to work in unison and to support each other in order to reach church goals. She commended conference organisers, especially Sunday school teachers who left their families and other duties to be with the scholars during the conference.

The guest speaker at the event, Reverend Doctor John Seakgosing urged children to work hard at school in order to lead better lives and not envy others. He also advised them to learn to forgive others and to refrain from self centeredness.

The objective of the conference was to help children interact with one another, and for the church to identify talent since Sunday school was the foundation of the church. Activities which the children got engaged in were Bible quizzes, music and drama competitions among others.

The conference started on November 27 and closed on Sunday. It was explained that the conference was an annual event hosted immediately when schools close for the festive season. ENDS
