Another secondary planned for Ghanzi
07 Dec 2015
Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso says she is aware that there is an urgent need to assist Ghanzi township with a second junior secondary school to relieve Itekeng Junior Secondary School, which is planned under NDP 11.
Ms Tshireletso was responding to a question in Parliament on behalf of the Minister of Education and Skills Development.
Ms Tshireletso explained that the delay was due to limited funds and national priorities which have seen five new secondary schools, two junior secondary schools and two unified schools development. She further said the school has been provisionally budgeted for under the impending NDP 11 at P200 million.
She added that her ministry has identified the site for the new school and hopes that funds were availed in NDP 11 so that construction works could commence. Ghanzi North MP, Mr Noah Salakae had asked the minister to state the date on which the long planned second junior secondary school would be built in Ghanzi township.
He asked the minister to state the cause of delay, the amount budgeted for the project, and whether the land has been identified and secured for the project. ENDS
