Kgosi Mngqibisa laid to rest in Bikwe

Kgosi Thanda Mngqibisa was laid to rest at his home village of Bikwe yesterday in a combination of emotive and glittering moods as mourners celebrated his life.

Among the mourners was the Vice President and also MP for Moshupa-Manyana constituency, Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi who described the late kgosi as one of the village elders who inspired him as he was an outspoken leader who played an active role in ensuring that there is peace and unity in the village.The Vice President explained that Kgosi Mngqibisa fought for Bikwe to be a recognised settlement and later pushed for its development. 

Councillor for Manyana/Mogonye, Mr Peter Sethibe said the late kgosi was “a big tree that provided shade for the community,” noting he was a great hero. 

On Wednesday, there was a memorial service for the late kgosi which was held in  Mmankgodi. 

When speaking at the memorial service, the Vice President described the late Kgosi as a humble, loving and caring person. 

He said the late Kgosi was a dedicated person and a true servant of God who served his people whole heartedly. The Vice President said the late Kgosi deserved to be showered with praises because he has a colourful track record. Mr Masisi said Kgosi Mngqibisa was exemplary and an asset to the family as well as the country. 

Kgosi Mngqibisa was born in December 8, 1933 in Bikwe and schooled in Manyana and proceeded to Mafikeng and later went to Johannesburg where he completed his secondary education.

He is survived by his wife, four children, two sons, two daughters, 15 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Ends
