Ipelegeng workers under workers s act

The conditions for engaging Ipelegeng beneficiary as contained in the revised guidelines for implementation of the Ipelegeng programme of 2012 stipulates that programme beneficiaries shall be compensated for injuries sustained during working hours as per the governing structures, “in this case the Workers Compensation Act.”
Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso said Ipelegeng beneficiaries were covered under the Workers’ Compensation Act and the revised guidelines for implementation of the Ipelegeng programme of 2012.
Gaborone North MP, Mr Haskins Nkaigwa had wanted to know whether Ipelegeng workers were insured against the risks associated with their jobs. He also wanted the minister to explain what happens in case they contract a disease due to their work or lose their lives during work, especially those who sweep roads and dig trenches and whether there were plans to insure them.
