Botswana has climate change programmes in place

The Ministry of Environment, Wildlife and Tourism has a number of programmes in place that address climate change, says Mr Tshekedi Khama.
Mr Khama said the programmes include the Botswana climate change dialogue that entails the use of strategic public forums to discuss issues of climate chance with ordinary citizens in villages and towns across the country.
Others include public awareness programmes, research based symposiums, regional joint venture programmes, the intended national determined contributions, Botswana Climate Change Policy and others.
He said the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development together with his ministry sits in the National Committee on Climate Change (NCCC) that provides guidance on the development and implementation of problems associated with climate change.
The MP for Gaborone South, Mr Haskins Nkaigwa had asked the minister what programmes were in place to address climate change and the relationship between his ministry and that of Local Government and Rural development in addressing climate change. Ends
