Ministry not aware of land transactions
25 Nov 2015
The Minister of Infrastructure Science and Technology Mr Nonofo Molefhi says the Ministry of Lands and Housing is not aware of any records showing land transactions or transfer of shares between Tati Company and any South African or lessee of any of the sites in the Northern Delta, Khwai, Savuti and Central Kalahari Game Reserve (CKGR).
Answering a question in parliament on behalf of the Minister of Lands and Housing, Mr Molefhi said swapping of land is a form of transfer and therefore is permissible as per the provisions of government policy, but however any transfer of tribal or state land cannot take place without sanctioning by responsible land authorities.
He further reiterated that the ministry does not have a record of Tati Company interests in the CKGR. MP for Ghanzi North Mr Noah Salakae had asked whether the minister is aware of the land which the Tati Company Limited offered to a South African in exchange for wildlife sites in the Northern Delta, Khwai, Savuti and CKGR.He also asked whether swapping of land is supported by government policy.
