Students exposed to career guidance

Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development, Mr Moiseraela Goya has explained that secondary school students in Botswana are assisted with career guidance and general counselling.
Responding to a question in Parliament , He stated that various tools including RIASEC Test and MBTI are used to assist students.He said RIASEC Test (Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, Conventional people) is a tool which helps students to identify their interests and eventually make a choice.
MBTI (Meyer’s Briggs Type Indicator), he explained, is a personality test which helps to identify personality, which helps to select a career path and also helps to improve professional relationships in the work place.
Mr Goya said career guidance and counselling is a holistic programme which encompasses personality, aptitude and interests. Mmadinare MP Mr Kefentse Mzwinila had asked the ministry to state the procedure and tools used for matching the interests, personality and aptitude of a form five student with appropriate tertiary education course of study and career path.
