Private sector arranged meetings
23 Apr 2013
Parliament has been informed that organisers of the two coal conferences held in Botswana this year were International Mining and Metals (IMM) and International Quality and Productivity Center (IQPC).
Responding to a Parliamentary question, Minister of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources, Mr Kitso Mokaila said the two conferences were organised by the private sector, therefore the ministry was not privy to details pertaining to payments modalities and proceeds of the conference.
Shoshong MP, Mr Phillip Makgalemele had asked the minister to state the names of organisers and investors of 2013 Coal Exposition and the number of international businesses which participated and the methods of payment they used.
MP Makgalemele had also wanted to know how much was realised from local and international business which participated in the expo, if most payments were made outside Botswana. ENDS
