Mmea teams receive payment
19 Nov 2015
The Minister of Youth, Sport and Culture, Mr Thapelo Olopeng says he is aware that two teams from Mmea had outstanding constituency sport tournament prize monies that have since been paid.
He said Mmea netball team was owed P2 600 while White Stuff football team was owed P4 600. He revealed that both teams were paid on October 22. He said the teams were not paid on time because some vital documents such as sureties were misplaced at the Shashe West constituency office, which was the area of jurisdiction for both teams before delimitation.
Minister Olopeng said the documents were supposed to be forwarded to the Tutume District Administrative office to enable processing of payments after confirmation with the Department of Sports and Recreation office. He said both teams were owed prize money for cycles 12 and 13 for the 2012/13 financial year.
Boteti East MP, Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe had asked the minister if he was aware that Mmea football and netball teams were owed constituency tournament prize money from 2012. Ends
