Health facilities face accommodation shortage
18 Nov 2015
Assistant Minister of Health has informed parliament that there is an acute shortage of accommodation in all health facilities including Mmadinare Primary Hospital.
Answering a question in parliament, Dr Alfred Madigele said his ministry is aware of 156 officers at Mmadinare Primary Hospital and forty-two (42) institutional houses at the facility instead of 36 as stated by Member of Parliament for Mmadinare Mr Kefentse Mzwinila.
He indicated the Ministry of Health continues to explore and implement various ways of addressing this shortage and with Mmadinare in particular, the ministry has addressed management to consider sharing like in other areas and also re-arrange such that those that get an accommodation subsidy should move to private accommodation to enable others to move in.
Mr Mzwinila had asked the ministry if they are aware that there are 156 officers at Mmadinare Primary Hospital but only 36 staff houses , if so, what is being done to address this acute housing shortage. Ends
