Ministry to address overcrowding
16 Nov 2015
Sefhophe Junior Secondary School is expecting a challenge of overcrowding, the Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development, Mr Moiseraele Goya, has said. Responding to a question in parliament from Mmadinare MP, Mr Kefentse Mzwinila, Mr Goya said the school was initially designed to be a 12 stream school.
However, this growth, the assistant minister said was not accompanied by provision of additional classrooms to cater for the excess population and this situation affected teaching and learning. “My Ministry intends to build additional facilities under the current Economic Stimulus Programme during financial year 2016/2017,” he said.
Mr Mzwinila had asked the minister if he was aware of the severe overcrowding at Sefhophe Junior Secondary School, which was adversely affecting teaching effectiveness and when would additional classroom blocks and staff accommodation be built at the school. Ends
