Kaelo Mmesi not in celebratory mood

09 Nov 2015

Notwane wasted a lot of chances and was eventually held to a goalless draw by Letlapeng FC in the Debswana First Division South match played at SSG Grounds on Sunday (November 8).

Notwane dominated the first half and put the visitors under pressure as they searched for an early goal.

The combination of Tlotlo Mpema, Mbuqe Sithembile and Sidney Moseki seemed too good for Letlapeng. Mpema displayed good runs from the right flank and delivered good balls for the strikers but failed to hit the back of the net.

The game went into recess goalless, but Letlapeng came back a different team.

Just after the break, Obakeng Phuduhutswana received a through pass and faced goalkeeper Itumeleng Selapa, but miscued his shot. A series of misplaced shots defined the game as both teams became more wasteful.

Letlapeng dominated the second half of the game with the combination of Johana Mokaedi, Thamang Kgamanyane and Mompoloki Rangwang giving the midfield a better shape. Notwane coach Kaelo ‘Wire’ Kaelo expressed his frustration with his side’s wasteful shots saying they should have won the game in the first half.

“We did not have the cutting edge especially in the last third. Even the last attempt towards the end of the game should have been a goal but it did not happen,” he said. He said his players are still getting used to the new formation he has brought into the team, adding that his main striker was isolated at times.

Letlapeng coach Enos Mmesi also expressed disappointment with the results, stating that he wanted to win against Notwane.

Mmesi said he was happy with his team’s performance, especially the last part of the game when they dominated their opponents. Notwane is seating on position five and Letlapeng on fourth. The two teams have 14 points each.  Ends
