BDF IX crushed UB Giants 11-2 on Sunday to move into third place after three matches in the BoFiNet BSA Southern Zone league.

The defending champions started the campaign with an 8-1 hammering of Gatalamotho, but were beaten 7-6 by Wells in Jwaneng on Saturday (November 7). 

Major James Moremedi’s men responded to the loss by bullying UB Giants in a six innings match played under scorching heat at the University of Botswana Diamond. 

Batting first, BDF IX grabbed the lead in the first inning through runs by Obusitswe Lekgothu, Gofaone Moremedi and Josphat Saakane. Tshepang Moatshe and Archie Seetapele extended BDF IX’s lead in the second inning before Lekgothu grabbed his second run of the match.  

UB Giants pulled one back through Reitumetse Office in the third inning, but Moremedi and Saakane gave BDF IX an 8-1 lead in the fourth inning.

Although Gofaone Mashiakgomo scored a second UB Giants run in the five inning, the students were left well beaten after Moremedi, Saakane and Witness Gaarogwe scored three more runs for the soldiers.

Following the emphatic victory, BDF IX moved to third place with four points. Wells are at the top of the log with six points, while BMC Rivals are second with four points.

Wells have won three matches in a row after beating BDF IX, Stingers 13-3, and Gatalamotho 11-4 over the weekend.

BDF IX tops the ladies section with four points from two matches.

 

The army ladies defeated Wells 7-4 on Saturday and UB Giants 9-1 on Sunday. Bonang Lepotokisi, Ruth Ramasedi, and Neo Modise scored two runs each while Kemmonye Otimile, Esther Bitsang and Gaone Letshwenyo also scored. Ends
